You can't legitimately copy from iPhones to iTunes (anti piracy measure). There are "tools" (google transfer music from iPhone to computer) or just copy the iTunes music folder from original mac to am external drive and import it to the other mac.

He's running iTunes 10 on the newer, functioning iMac, but we weren't able to find a reference at Apple Support that was successful to tell us how to accomplish this transfer. We connected his 3GS and authorized the good iMac, but the "Transfer Dr. M's Songs to iTunes" or "Import to Library" did not work. What do you recommend?

Is there a recent backup of the malfunctioning iMac, one containing the
iTunes folder?

Songs Transfer iPhone to iMac: WAS iPhone Photos to MMe

Hi Richard,

Download a free program called "podtomac" from the Internet to the Mac that is working. Then, plug in his iPhone and this program will "grab" the songs from the phone and transfer them onto the new computer. Most people back up their music libraries to some external hard drive or some cloud storage company, just in case. Because let's face it: computers come and go. Can't trust them to last for very long.

My same partner (smart physician, good with stocks, just learning Macs) loaded hundreds of songs from CD's successfully onto iTunes of his home iMac. Then, he copied/synced those from that iMac onto his 3GS where they now reside in the iPod app. THEN, (almost done now.......) that iMac declined into "gray screen only" on startup (which we will address this weekend), and he needs to load the saved songs from his 3GS to iTunes on another functioning iMac. 1) open the FB App.
2) Tap the camera icon next to status update.
3) That brings up a menu. From that menu select upload video. That opens a window with your videos.
4) Select one
5) Add your coments & tap upload.

I was waiting for the white iPhone 4. I have always had the white and liked it. But the problems that were implied with the white iPhone4 concerned me. Therefore I purchased the black and with a case and an application from a company called decalskin it looks like the white iPhone4. I have the peace of mind of the black and the look I wanted too......Both products are at Amazon:
1. White Replicase Hard Crystal Air Jacket Case iPhone 4 4G 16GB 32GB
2. DecalSkin Apple iPhone 4 Skin Cover - Simply White

I am happy!

Netflix problem

Hi Pete,

I turned off my wifi and can access Netflix fine with my 3G. All I can say
is to try and reboot your iPhone and try again.

Good luck,

Jean

<<I can't seem to watch Netflix over 3G. Works fine when connected to a
wireless network, but when I try watching over 3G I can't get a movie to
start. It starts loading then jumps back to the main netflix screen. Worked
in the past. Deleted and redownloaded the app. No luck.

Can anyone else get it to work ove 3G right now?

I got the basic (non-"pro") D2G & I can edit on it.
I haven't done it lately so I don't remember details, but I *have* edited on
the ipad/phone & copied/synced back to pc.

I'm not sure, but maybe saving it saves it as a separate file with a new
name, e.g. FileA becomes FileA (1).

Why would I be "orphaned" by D2G? even if they stop upgrades & whatnot
I'd still have what I already have & be syncing thru iTunes.

iPhone, iPad friendly HTML 5 video penetration hits 54%

Sent to you by Brent via Google Reader: iPhone, iPad friendly HTML 5
video penetration hits 54% via TiPb - The #1 iPhone, iPad, and iPod
touch blog by Staff on 10/27/10

A new reports suggest that 54% of all video online is now HTML5
compatible (mostly H.264), which means it's iPad, iPhone and iPod touch
compatible as well. Here are some of the discoveries from MeFeedia:

- 54% of web video is now available for playback in HTML5, with H.264
being the dominant video format. Mobile is driving HTML5 video
adoption. HTML5 video is the most common format for mobiles, including
iPhone and iPad.
- Publishers and platforms now offer iframe embeds, allowing them to
switch players dynamically depending on the access device.
- Alongside mobile growth, we expect that most video sites will follow
this trend.
This is awesome news for iOS users, and signals a dramatic shift in
online video playback from just 10% penetration in January of this
year. Looking at the numbers a bit further, HTML5 video has more than
doubled in numbers since May at just 26%, and further suggests a
rapidly growing trend of major online outlets integrating HTML5 video
into their sites.

Although Flash is still the dominant video playback method, could HTML5
video soon be overtaking Adobe in the streaming video space, and will
it be driven mostly by iOS devices? Daring Fireball points to an
interview between Robert Scoble and Starbucks CIO Stephen Gillett,
where Starbucks chose to go HTML5 rather than Flash simply to support
iOS devices.

Does knowing this make you miss Flash on the iPhone any less, or do you
still want your Flash video and want it now?

It's not flash video I really care about. It's sites built in flash.
My youngest daughter's elementary and my oldest's middle/high are all
flash. Can't check her homework schedule, field trip info, class info
or anything. School's response? We'll change it when we have budget
for it again. Translation... I'll have an iPhone 7 by then or my girls
will be in college.

There are a lot of flash based sites or sites with flash based
functionality. I could care less about vid, I virtually never just
have to see a vid when I'm out and about. Getting school info or
looking up a menu of a restaurant. Happens all the time.

Gmail in mobile Safari: now even more like a native app

Go to gmail.com from your iPhone and you'll notice two improvements
we've rolled out over the past few weeks. First, scrolling is snappier:
the speed of scrolling reflects the speed of your swipe gesture. This
is helpful for long conversations where a few quick flicks will get you
to the information you need much faster than before. Second, the
toolbars stay on screen while you're scrolling rather than moving down
into view after each scroll. Being able to access your toolbars from
any point on the page should make it easier to triage your email and
move around the app.

If you use Gmail in your mobile browser a lot, you may have noticed
that we recently tried several different variations of these buttons.
We've iterated on the design and made improvements based on your
feedback. If you have more suggestions, please post them in our forum
or, if you use Twitter, mention #gmailmobile and we'll take a look. If
you're a developer and are interested in learning about the Javascript
and HTML techniques we used to do this, we'll post an article to
code.google.com/mobile in the coming weeks.

You can see these improvements by visiting gmail.com from the browser
of iPhone and iPod touch devices running iOS4 (English-only for now).
And if you like Gmail in mobile Safari, make getting to it easier by
tapping the "+" at the bottom of the screen and then "Add to Home
Screen." (Don't see the new changes yet? Try clearing your cache and
refreshing the page.)
