It's not a 'bad' iPhone. Oil was spilled on it. My fault. The iPhone that got 'oiled' was the upgrade I got last year. The iPhone I'm going back to temporarily is an original iPhone. The SIM is from it originally.

Re: Battery App

What do you mean by battery app? There is a percentage monitor built in
(Settings > General > Usage) and no the back should not get hot, it could
possibly get warm if used constantly for long periods of time. Tthe battery
does emit heat so constant battery drainage would heat the glass but it
should never become hot to point of unable to touch.

Okay, so now that I have my new spanking new iPhone 4 what is the best mail setup. I currently have all my email imported from other accts. (ie yahoo) to Gmail. Is this the best way to handle email? or should I just set up the email accounts through the iPhone?

Thanks.

Screen goes black at end of phone call

Hi all:

I have a 3GS running iOS 4.1 and have noted that when I conclude a phone call and take the phone away from my face the screen turns black and it takes several seconds to come back to life. Meanwhile the call is still "connected" and I am consuming seconds of airtime.

Is this common?

Thanks,
Barry in Atlanta

OT: iLoveHandles watchband for the 6G iPod nano

I realize this is a bit off topic, but I just wanted to warn anyone who's thinking of buying the iLoveHandles leather watchband for the new 6G iPod nano, DON'T! It's the cheapest, chintziest watchband I've ever seen. It's unfinished leather on the inside and frankly looks as though it were made of cardboard. It reminds me of those terrible belts they sell to women for their dresses.

250,000 AppleTVs in 18 days.  Is that a lot?

On one hand, Apple's announcement that it had sold a quarter of a
million AppleTVs in just 18 days seems like a solid number. At that
rate, a million in a little over two months (and 100M in revenue!).
Steve Jobs said he was very pleased with the sales. But is it really
that many?

A few stats to consider:

- There are three times as many TVs used on earth as mobile phones,
close to 5 billion.
- Apple sells 275-300,000 iOS devices a day. Those now include
AppleTVs. Over the three week launch period, less than 5% of iOS
devices sold were AppleTVs (btw, that's up 45,000 devices a day since
new iPod/AppleTV announcement)
- AppleTV, even though it has the biggest screen, is by far the
cheapest iOS device at only $99. It costs 1/5th the iPad and
significantly less than half of the iPod touch.
All we're saying is there is a lot more room for growth. When people
see what they can do with Airplay, things should pick up.
