Cracked Front Glass

Yesterday my phone fell from my lap when I got out of the car. I was so upset when I saw the front of my iPhone was shattered. I took it to the Apple Store expecting to pay the $199 fee for repair. I couldn't believe it when they decided to give me a complimentary free new iPhone 4 instead!! Wow! I'm so happy :)

You asked for it now here it is, part two of our iPhone 4 battery case
review featuring fan-fave Exolife from Exogear. Like the Mophie Juice
Pack Air and Mili PowerSpring 4 battery packs we already reviewed, the
Exolife case promises to "virtually double" the life of your iPhone 4
-- something neither the Mophie nor Mili could quite pull off.
Exogear's claim is even more bold given its additional boast about
being the "world's thinnest and lightest battery case" for the iPhone
4. Can it possibly compete and knock the Mophie Juice Pack Air out of
its title position? Click through to find out.

What headset do you have or recommend?

I have been through many over the years including The Jawbone and just have not gotten continued quality on any .
The audio usually is very bad, and or they dont fit nicely in the ear.

Feedback would be awesome :-)

Get a custom earpiece from averysound.com. I've been through 3 generations of Jawbone's with great success.

I had the same problem. Several times support responded with "no refunds." I
responded to one of them by putting, "Keep my money." at the beginning of
the email and they took it out of my que.

Thanks for the information. I guess I will just keep suspending them until I get to a better wifi situation.

These were free episodes so not sure the keep my money thing would work.

Thanks all

Zagg has a sale going. I just ordered the ZAGGsparq 2.0 for $49.99 with free
shipping. That is 50% off the regular price by using the discount code
50sport. I found the code on their Facebook page. I don't know how long it
will last but I'll take 50% off anytime.

ITunes phishing scam

New Phishing Attack Targets Apple iTunes, Security Firm Says
Published October 05, 2010 |FoxNews.com

PandaLabs

A new phishing scam targets iTunes users, seeking to con them into clicking
a link by underscoring a massive purchase. The faulty math is even more
reason to click on the link to some.

Got iTunes? Be careful, you might get iScammed too.

A new cyberscam has been targeting the tens of millions of users of Apple's
iTunes music service, as crooks phish for confidential bank information.

According to security analysis firm PandaLabs, a cleverly crafted e-mail is
landing in e-mail in-boxes, informing people that they have made an
expensive purchase on iTunes. The concerned user quickly tries to resolve
the problem by clicking on a link in the e-mail -- which is always a
mistake, though an easy one to make.

After clicking the link the user is asked to download a fake PDF reader,
which redirects the user to infected Web pages (mostly Russian) containing
Trojans among other malware that steal the user's personal details.

"It never ceases to surprise us that the techniques used to trick victims
continue to be so simple," said Luis Corrons, Technical Director of
PandaLabs. "It's often difficult not to fall in the trap. That's why it's
absolutely crucial that when you use platforms such as iTunes, and you
receive these types of notifications, never go to the website through the
e-mail, but rather from the platform itself."

Corrons told FoxNews.com that Panda has seen "around 300,000 e-mails pass
through their spam filter over the last weekend alone," a relatively low
number considering the vast flow of e-mail on the Internet today. But
Corrons predicts "the number could be a lot higher in days to come."

Panda was uncertain how many people have been taken in by the scam so far,
however.

"Whilst Panda do not have a figure on the numbers taken in by the scam, the
Antiphishing Working Group has blocked some of the web addresses linked to
the fake e-mail in order to protect users, he told FoxNews.com.

Apple did not respond to requests for confirmation of the scam, or questions
about whether it plans to address the situation. But the company advises
users who suspect they have received an e-mail that may be a phishing attack
should forward it toreportphishing@apple.com.

Viva la Xmarks!

Sent to you by Bill Boulware via Google Reader: Viva la Xmarks! via Boy
Genius Report by Andrew Munchbach on 10/8/10

Last month, we reported on the planned shuttering of the cross-browser,
bookmark-syncing service Xmarks. This month, we are happy to inform you
that is looks like Xmarks will live on. According to a recent blog post
by the company, an outpouring of support from users has drastically
changed the company's plans. As Xmarks explains:

The past ten days have been an amazing lesson in the power of
community. Not in the "web 2.0 social graph" sense – I'm talking about
old school community with users speaking up, speaking out and banding
together. Thank you Xmarks users. You told the world it was simply
unacceptable for our service to shut down and it worked. Thanks to your
passion, Xmarks now has multiple offers from companies ready and
willing to take over the service and keep making browser sync better
and better!

The company does note that no deal has been finalized, but they are
confident with multiple offers on the table Xmarks will be able to stay
open for business. At time of publishing, over 35,000 users had pledged
to pay between $10 and $20 per year for the service. Hit the read link
to read the full post.

Uh Oh AT&T, Verizon Getting The Talk+Surf Feature Too — Not T

Posted by: "Bill Boulware" bill.boulware@gmail.com   boulware0224

Fri Oct 8, 2010 6:43 pm (PDT)

Sent to you by Bill Boulware via Google Reader: Uh Oh AT&T, Verizon
Getting The Talk+Surf Feature Too — Not That It Really Matters via
TechCrunch by MG Siegler on 10/8/10

The Verizon iPhone nears. And that's great news. I can't wait to get
one on day one and leave AT&T far in my rearview. But wait, it's not
all peachy-keen as The Wall Street Journal reminds us today. AT&T does
have two advantages over Verizon right now: its GSM technology is more
widely used around the world (meaning the phone can roam around the
world), and you can use data while on a call. But it sounds like the
latter is about to get eliminated.

Over the last year, we've had to listen to Luke Wilson tell us that
"the nation's fastest 3G network" is also the one that lets you "talk
and surf at the same time." Currently, Verizon cannot do that due to a
decision the people behind CDMA (the technology that Verizon uses in
its phones) made to split data and voice into separate signals. But as
WSJ reports:

Now, they're working to overcome it. A solution that will allow CDMA
networks to carry voice and data simultaneously will become
commercially available in the first half of next year, said Brad
Shewmake, spokesman for the CDMA Development Group, an industry
organization.

Verizon won't commit to a date for such a feature, but they are working
on it. From the story:

Verizon Wireless is working on providing that capability, said Verizon
executive Brian Higgins. He wouldn't say when it will be ready, but
played down the need for handling voice and data at the same time.

But the last part is important. I've had an iPhone for over three years
now and I can only recall a handful of times when I needed/wanted to
use data while on a call. And almost all of those times have been when
I was on hold. And probably half of those were when I was on hold with
AT&T.

AT&T touts the feature, but it's simply not that important. Certainly,
it's not important enough to stop me from switching from a service that
has poor coverage in some big cities, to one that has great coverage in
those same cities. Coverage is a much more important feature.

But I'll admit that the global roaming ability is nice. I was in Japan
earlier this year and was able to buy a (ridiculously expensive) plan
from AT&T so my phone would work there. With a CDMA phone, I would have
likely be out of luck. But again, a small price to pay for my phone to
work 99 percent of the rest of the time.

So, for an encore, let's enjoy one of Luke Wilson's lovely AT&T
commercials below. You'll note that instead of being 4 to 1 in favor of
AT&T, come next year, it looks like it will be more like 1 to 1 (and
I'm sure Verizon would argue that they have the fastest 3G network —
there are only about a billion studies that say different things).
