You have to share you printer also - two different things, "Printer Sharing"
is in the Sharing pane in System Preferences, then in the Printers pane
click on your printer and click "Share this Printer" or "Share on Network"
something like that.

start monkeying around with Air Print.

How To: Use Find My iPhone / iPad Service

Sent to you by Bill Boulware via Google Reader: How To: Use Find My
iPhone / iPad Service via iSmashPhone - Turn your Phone into your
MyPhone by Jacob Lopez on 11/22/10
Find My iPhone is probably one of the most necessary Apps an iPhone,
iPad or iPod Touch owner can download. That's because it will help you
track a lost or stolen device. At worst, you can lock or completely
wipe the device so that any sensitive information doesn't make it into
the hands of someone else.
Note: Apple's press release made it seem that the service would only
work on current devices (iPhone 4, iPad and iPod Touch 4G). However, we
were able to get it working perfectly on an iPhone 3G running iOS 4.2.
Update: Seems that the reason we were able to update the 3G with
MobileMe has been discovered by some users, and just happened by chance
on our part.
1) Download Find My iPhone from the App Store on a current-gen iOS
device and register.
2) Setup your device by going to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars >
Add Account > MobileMe
3) Enter your Apple ID and password.
4) Turn on "Find My ..." in the next popup.
5) Now you can launch the App on your current-gen device, and you are
ready to go.
6) Now repeat the previous five steps on your older iOS device.
7) Go to Me.com and check that your devices are working.
It's also being reported that you can use someone else's iOS device to
setup your account, then just delete your account from the borrowed
device. However, it's also noted that you can only create 3 MobileMe
accounts per device, even if you delete the account.
Read on for a more detailed walkthrough of the same process with
pictures.
1) First, you will have to be running iOS 4.2. You can get it by
plugging your device into iTunes, backing up and hitting the update
button. iTunes will do the rest for you.
2) Go to your Settings, and choose "Mail, Contacts, Calendars."
3) Tap "Add Account"
4) Choose "MobileMe"
5) Enter your Apple ID and your password.
6) You will see the following screen:
7) Go to Me.com and login with your Apple ID. From there, you can check
out the location of your device. Know that you will have to set it up
for each of your iOS devices, but the process is the same across the
board. You can also download the Find my iPhone app from the App Store,
and that will make it possible to track your device from another iOS
device.

iOS 4.2 Update Wipe Out Your iPhone Music? Try This.

Sent to you by Bill Boulware via Google Reader: iOS 4.2 Update Wipe Out
Your iPhone Music? Try This. via TechCrunch by MG Siegler on 11/22/10
As you're probably well aware by now, iOS 4.2 (technically, iOS 4.2.1)
has been released by Apple today. The update unifies iOS across the
iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad for the first time. But it also comes with
an annoying bug that some users are seeing.
After you update to the new OS, if you load the iPod (Music) app, you
may see a message stating that your currently have "No Content" on the
device. The problem is that many people do. For example, I have 7.8
gigabytes of audio on my iPhone, but after the update, none of it could
be located. Luckily, there's an easy fix.
As you can see in this Apple Discussion forum, others are having the
same issue. The way to fix it is apparently to plug your iPhone back
into your computer, play a song from the iPhone on your computer, and
then sync. The process is very quick because it doesn't actually have
to transfer all that music again, it just makes it recognize that it's
already there. Sure enough, my content is now back.
Oddly, it looks as if this issue may only affect the iPhone 4. I
updated an iPhone 3GS earlier and see all my music just fine. Likewise
with the iPad.
Update: A few people have since said that the problem affects iPod
touches as well.
Update 2: And yet more people are saying it's affecting their iPhone
3GS as well. Again, my 3GS updated just fine. Weird.

Okay, Bill.
MacBook Pro (2009 model) running 10.6.5.
Printer sharing turned on in System Preferences
Both of the printer shown there check-marked
Safari shows the Airprint option, but cannot find the printers.
One printer is connected by USB to my Airport Extreme Base Station; the other is connected by ethernet to the same.

Just got an email from Netflix saying that the 1-disc, streaming account
will be going up $1/month in January, and they will be offering a new $7.99
plan for those that want streaming only, with no discs.
Probably a good move for many; seems that we hardly ever watch DVDs and
stream many things over our various devices.

4.2 error message
Posted by: "LarryW" larryw262@gmail.com lweissman_2000

I went to update my phone to 4.2 from 4.2 and got the following message:
"There are purchased items on the iPhone that have not been transfered to your iTunes library. You should transfer these items to your iTunes library before updating this iPhone. Are you sure you want to continue?" Cancel/Continue.
So I synced my phone, not once but twice, and I don't have new purchases to transfer yet I still get this message. Am I missing something or should I just go ahead and update to 4.2.
Thanks in advance.

When you'll go to Google.com/sync, go to iPhone option and you'll see it's limitations as which fields sync.

It's a limitation of Exchange which is how you're most likely synching
google contacts now. It's a well known limitation and you can't use
custom labels. I went through and created a boatload of custom labels
in Goigle contacts only to find the phone numbers disappeared at next
sync. Had to go back and put them as work and pager numbers again.

I downloaded and have been using the beta version of 4.2 on my iPad for a few
weeks. I did a sync with the new version of the IOS but iTunes tells me that I
have the current version of the software. On my iPhone after the sync which I
had not put the beta version of 4.2 it now reads 4.2.1 but not on my iPad. Am I
missing something and if so are there steps that I can take to correct it?

It doesn't, yet - I have been using it since Beta 3 of 4.2 (more than 2
months ago) and neither of my Macs stay on 24/7 - only Windows at home and
office so it is a pain in the ass if I want to print something when either
Mac is shut down. There is no "PDF Printer Driver" for Mac either so I
can't save something as a PDF from iPhone or iPad either - I can't WAIT for
it to come to Windows as I have PDF "Printers" installed and Windows stays
on 24/7 at home and office so I can print or create PDF without having to
think about if a Mac is turned on.
They HAVE to expand Airprint to Windows in some form or another there are
way too many iPad, iPod, & iPhone users who only have Windows PCs & networks
not to implement it.

Dumb question probably, but where are the 17 new alerts as described from the Apple website as pasted below... I can't find anywhere where the new "17" are located... Any help from the gallery, please?
