So you're using Mobile Me, not iTunes, to sync?
I don't know of a blanket 'disable alarms' function, so that's why I
wondered if you wanted to not sync that calendar.
I've never used .Mac/Mobile Me so I can't try anything myself.

Well, that's an interesting question! As I indicated, the settings seem to
follow the 'sync by MobileMe' approach and yes I have MobileMe.
iCal on all my computers sync to MM (editing contacts or events in either
place flows them to the other). I have a couple of computers that are part
of that collection and all goes as expected....
Except the 3GS. Items added to the cloud calendar DO NOT appear on the 3GS
and vice versa, even tho iTunes says the calendars are being sync'ed over
the air. The only way those updates are made is by sync'ing hardwired to
iTunes (even tho, as I said, the ¦'¬Sync iCal Calendars' is NOT checked, tho
the radio button for the MM account is selected, tho greyed out so it can't
be edited in iTunes.)
And of course, my original question remains, how to disable one of my iCal
calendars, called Home, from triggering events on the 3GS. I'd be glad to
remove it from the display on 3GS option as I never need to see these daily
events on the calendar.

What do you mean by "Crashed the number"?
If you mean you damaged the redemption code while scratching the coating off- and can't read it anymore:
You cannot return it, but you can email iTunes support and give the SKU # of the card to them. (SKU: All the numbers under the bar code) and they will send you the redemption code for that card or create a new one for your damaged card.
(Hint: On the plastic iTunes cards, Using WD-40 and a cloth to wipe the coating off in gentler on the numbers.)

Thank you for that advice, Jim and Otto. I was able to use that information to locate and transfer music files from the G5 to the macbook pro using home sharing over our wifi system. The apps are still eluding me. It may the files are set so that you need the correct permission to access them. I've had that issue when trying to manipulate files under unix. I've also had files in XP that were not easy to find b/c they were set to the hidden attribute. Do you think the apps files are not found b/c they have attributes different from the music files? Again, any help would be appreciated. This is a really knowledgeable group!

Never had that problem but had many issues with syncing. I found that
disabling antivirus software during sync stopped the issues I was having. In
3 months there has not been one issue. (In the past every sync was an
exercise in reboots.) Perhaps uninstalling following the exact instructions
from apple (_http://support.apple.com/ kb/ht1925_
(http://support.apple.com/ ) ) and then reinstalling with antivirus and possible firewallkb/ht1925
disabled (if internet connection is stopped while you install) may help. I am
using AVG and Zonealarm and they routinely cause me problems if on during a
sync.
I may be totally off base. hope this helps.
