Go to Apple's website. There is a page about repairs and services or something where you can check if your iPhone still has warranty and if so, when it expires. You just have to input the serial number.

The warranty expiration is the same date of purchase (or activation) last year...

If there's no more warranty, must be more than 12 months but not more than 16.

To reiterate Bill's comment shown above, "These numbers are for iPhone 4".

For example, mine is 88022

My serial is 7S040GGLA4S
Does it convey anything?

Decoding iPhone Serial Numbers that start with 7
http://www.hackint0sh.org/f127/21463.htm

"Produced in other areas, that the serial always starts wit a 7 and a letter.

So far, I stumbled over other threads, where people have serials,
starting with a 5 or an 8 and have a digit as the second character.

So how can I describe an iPhone serial with its absolute basis attributes?

Is this correct?

1. - has 11 characters
2. - third character is either a 7 oder an 8
3. - fourth and fifth character are the production week
4. - following are characters uniqe per iPhone with no special meaning"

It would seem to indicate manufacture in the 40th week of 2010 (early October). I don't know what factory "7S" would be.

Thank you Archie and everyone.
I get on Apple.com, key in the serial number and find out the warranty actually already expired. So the phone must be over a year old and not 4-5 month old as the seller said !

Well, I know a nearby AT&T so I went there, gave them the number of the phone and they gave me the printout ...voila, iPhone 3gs, white, purchased on 6/18/2009

So the seller just ..forget this is 2010, no longer 2009 ..honest mistake :)) and it runs on 4.1 so "nobody can unlock it!" (My intention is to give the iPhone to a relative who lives in a country without AT&T service !)

All my life I have this weakness: to trust people too easily! I don;t know how to react when people look straight at me in the eyes and ..lie! I guess I belong to the older generation :))

I had the exact same problem for the past few weeks. The battery would drop
fast even when it was just sitting and not being used. I did a restore and
now it works perfect. Apple told you right. It is a software issue.

For those that need more battery life - Brookstone makes a little battery pack that really extends operating time. Another thing to carry, another charger - but it is great for those situations when you have to have the phone work, and the battery is dead.

Sadly - it only works with the 3Gs, it doesn't work with my daughter's iPhone 4 at all.

Mophie Juice Pack Air doubles battery life and provides a great case
for protection and prevents antenna issue (actually increased my

This is getting way off topic from the original post. Someone needs to start

Brent what is a restore? Do you lose everything?

If it was a software issue I should not see it on my new phone correct? I had no issues with my phone except hubby and could set them side by side and do the exact same thing and his would only drop a little and mine would drop a lot.

I am confused by the restore comment.

Calle,

Restore is a function of iTunes. I did a backup of my iPhone and then
clicked on restore. After the restoring the iPhone to new condition, iTunes
asks if I would like to restore data from my last back up After that a sync
will return everything back like it was. The main difference is that any
glitch in the iOS has been removed. Some on the list will tell you to do a
restore and then reinstall all the apps. This is a lot of work if restoring
my data from the last backup will do.

I have had to do a restore as new several times. Once the GPS quit finding
my location and a restore fixed it. I'm not sure I made that all clear.
Email me direct if you wish.

Brent is correct, restore the phone then restore your backup. If you
still have the problem, restore the phone again then set up as a new
phone and this is where you will have to do the work of setting
everything back up. Generally a Restore then restoring the backup
will work, this is how I install each new beta, etc and rarely have an
issue. Only once in the past 7 upgrades have I had to set up as
completely new.

Science and math games are cool, and if they're musical, the "Glee" app is free and allows the teen to sing into the mic and save songs to share or goof off with.

Racing cames are popular with most 'kids' usually 13-on up.

Godfinger, where the person creates their own world and population is also pretty cool.

It will mainly depend on their interests and such.

AT&T Billing - Mobile and Home Internet

This is slightly off-topic, but I'm hoping someone in this group can help me out.

I have had AT&T for years... and have paid my bill online as long as I can remember. I recently switched home internet providers, and AT&T now brings the web into my house.

When I log-in to www.att.com, I can access my mobile account - but can not get into my home internet. It asks me to register, tells me I have an account, but yet... I have no idea how to do it.

I have had to call AT&T three times to pay my bill because I get Past Due notices - but I'm not a late bill-payer. I've asked the operators when I call to help me, but to be polite... English is not their first language. It's been difficult for them to even understand what I am asking for.

So... does anyone have both internet and mobile service through AT&T? Is it the same Username/Password to get in? Am I missing something to pay the bill?

Help this poor goofy guy in Indiana. :)

Thanks!

Jim

Jim,

It's two different accounts. You should have gotten your login/password
with the package that came with your modem. The username is normally your
first and last name combined.

Try AT&T U-Verse. I had to merge my two bills into one. U-Verse covers TV, Internet and ATT Mobile for the iPhones.

You can call 611 and have AT&T merge your bills.
