Does your phone have multi-tasking? I can't remember if the 3G has it or not. If it does, then probably too many things are running in the background.
Double click the home button, then press and hold anyone of the icons that pop up. A red "-" mark will appear next to each icon. When you see this click on each mark until all icons are gone. This will close any apps that are running inadvertently in the background and let your phone run quicker.

I'm wishing I hadn't updated my 3G iPhone with the new operating system. I'm having problems with the phone responding very slowly and also my Mail app often freezes and shuts down. I also keep getting back messages which I've already deleted several times.
Can anyone please suggest what I can do to fix these issues? I don't really want to go back to OS 3.1 as it looks a bit complicated and I've read that some have had issues after doing that too.
