Just got back from two weeks in Italy and France. I took my iPod
Touch, the wife took her iPhone.

Using Skype and available/cheap or free WiFi, I checked messages and
called home once or twice during that time. Called a few friends.

The wife called into her business on her AT&T travel plan, which she
bought for a month.

My total cost: $2.15

Her total cost: She won't even admit the real number, but she did
complain to AT&T, who knocked $300 off her bill. You can imagine
what the total amount must be.
