I've used both NDrive and Mapquest, and mapquest was just as good, performance-wise, and one-tenth the size. (The size makes a huge difference when those updates come in!) It wasn't as easy to learn and definitely not as intuitive as Garmin, but the basic functionality is there, once you find it.
