I have a similar fix to the problem. Just go to the app store on your
phone and download any free app. This seems to reset the app settings
and fixes any problems. Then you can go aheadand delete that extra app
if you want.

I also had this problem. My iPhone had been playing up so I shut it
down to reboot but it froze with the Apple logo on restart so I had to
do a reset by pressing the power button and home button at the same
time until it powered off. When it then booted up, I had this issue of
any 3rd party apps starting and then instantly closing. I'd also read
somewhere that I might have to re-sync but instead I went to the app
store, found out that 1 app had an update, allowed the update to
download and install and then all apps seemed to work fine after this.
This was about a month ago and it's been fine since.
