The Reader

you have some good points but IMO, the ipad will still bomb. a few comments based on what you said - in no particular order,

it would be difficult to use as a reader in bright lights and outside on bright sunny days. A camera could be use in a business environment since there are apps available that can read bar codes and possible scanner use. The screen would be vulnerable to breakage since it is out in the open with no protection. Most apps are geared towards smaller screens so there will be quality issues on larger screens - at least until they are updated.

and the biggie, it is too proprietary - from software to hardware to repairs.
