I've been wanting it all along. It's especially wanted when you want to indent a paragraph while writing an email. Like this one.

Filling out forms is exactly why I inquired about the "tab" key. So
if the keyboard doesn't show a "next" key I'm out of luck?

The "tab" function is usualy done with the "next" key. Like filling
out forms on a web site. Otherwise, no "tab" key.

Scroll down and tap the next field needing input.

I was curious about this so I waited to see if anyone responded with an answer. None appears to be coming.

No, if there is no next button, then either scroll down the page and tap the next box needing filling, or hit the done button and scroll down to the next box that needs filling. Either way scroll.

You want to indent a single line?

So space 5 times. Or get a BT keyboard. If you are typing that much on a iPhone, you probably want a keyboard anyway.

Archie, you and I are no youngsters, but I don't even think they are teaching indentation in school anymore. And when you and I went to school, no indentation was usually taught for typed business letters. For handwritten letters on unlined paper or manuscripts, maybe.

Sorry to hear that Nick. Could it be the syncing software and not the iPhone that is losing the data?

I use a Mac and I have not lost a note or any data in the almost 2 years I have had my iPhone. Problems with duplicates, yes, but no problems with losing notes.

All has been well since, but, looking for some data today, I suddenly find that only 9 out of 22 or 23 Notes are still on the iPhone. They are missing from Outlook too so this must have occurred before the last sync. This is my impportant data and this ............. iPhone is simply destroying it. My impression has been all along that the iPhone is not really quite compatible with the MS software - only 99% stable, not 100%.

Thanks to those who have responded. Have located the umpteen bits of data now. I agree with those other users who have found the MS/iPhone combination a tad less than reliable. Now could that ever be said of any other of Mr Gates's products - now be honest. <Removes tongue from cheek>

Last Summer, I had a major loss, and, as I said in my first message in this thread, was literally hours on the phone to one of the Apple techies before he got my Notes back and the combination stable and predictable. I was struck by his volunteering, without me offering question or comment, that "We know the software to be stable with Windows", almost sounding like he was talking to himself. It sounded to me like he was convincing himself. All I can say is that the Calendar does slightly odd things (that aren't always deletable) with the Outlook Calendar, particularly on repeating appointments. And the Notes are liable to duplicate themselves when amended, synced to Outlook, then synced back. And sometimes they vanish (twice for me). It is, as I said before, only about 99% reliable. I'd set up a file in Windows to save the Outlook *.pst file daily to a different place if it wasn't going to fill the HDD in no time!

Get a MobileMe account and synchronise both your Outlook and iPhone through there.

Happens over the air and seems to work much better with Outlook and it's flakiness.

I have had a couple of friends replace their own. They said it wasn't too difficult & these guys aren't really techies either. Most important thing is to make sure you have completely shut off your phone (holding down the top button til it says slide to shut off & screen goes completely black). Otherwise your phone shorts out. I think the cell repair guys fix it for $65. If you do it yourself it's about $30.

For anyone interested.. If you have an otterbox for your iphone 4 and you do not like the clip style holster there is one nice alternative that I found out by accident.

I have a leather holster that I ordered from mophie for my juice pak air.
It's the model 6000

It holds your otterbox defender perfectly.

I thought about getting it, but it has a spring clip that does not lock to my belt as the Otter box clip does. I have lost phones with spring clips before.

How does the model 6000 attach to your belt? Does it use a belt clip? I'm always concerned about it slipping up and off my belt.

Got a better option, go to AMAZON and get the Treo 650 holster, and they have not only the belt clip, there are some models with LOOPS too. Thread your belt through the loops, no worries.

I used to work around heavy equipment and climb 230 foot towers and I have only dropped a phone twice with a belt clip in 5 years. Both times it caught on the seatbelt leaving my pickup, because I wear it on the left side. Now this is with a chromed belt clip. This is the holster I use with my 2 year old iPhone, that has never been dropped. I think it was the antenna on the Treo that was catching.

Since the Mophie uses a leather covered metal slip. Take it to a shoe repair and for less than $5 and have them stitch it into a belt loop. You will probably have it done and walk out in minutes. Of course the hard part will be finding a shoe repair shop, but you won't drop your phone or holster.

Or for those who jeans and not slacks, go find a CLC cell holster, made of ballistic nylon with elastic side panels. They last many years and stretch to fit phones up to about 5.5" tall. It has a metal belt clip, on top of a 1.5 wide nylon loop. CLC makes tool bags and tool belts so look in hardware stores.

One caution, if the phone or case is painted plastic or has that rubbery coating, the holster will rub it off the phone with long use. The edging on the holster wore off the paint on my Treo 650 around the "ear piece" after 3 years.

I use a Griffin Elan case with leather on my iPhone and after about 2 years I see no wear from the holster.

You put music on the iPhone (& iPod) by using iTunes. There is no reason to put in on CD first.

Just create a playlist, then "drag" that playlist to you iPhone.

No need to burn a CD to get your music from iTunes to the iPhone. When you connect your iPhone to your computer with iTunes running, either set the settings to sync all your music to the iPhone, or make a new playlist, and set that to sync to your iPhone.

If you make a playlist, then just drag the music you want to the playlist.

No CD involved.
