I use it and just tried mine and it worked fine so maybe it is the long history of old games. I use a 3GS on iOS 4.1 so maybe it's an iPhone 4 specific issue?

I've had problems w/Scrabble the past couple of days too so I'm guessing it's a Scrabble issue.

iPhone Calendar application that allows event repeat by variable day

Posted by: "joelw135" joel.waxman@gmail.com   joelw135

Mon Jan 24, 2011 11:34 am (PST)

I am looking for an calendar application that I can have a repeatable event in a preset number of days. Example "lunch every 8 days". Does anyone know of such an application? Also entering the event in plain language would be great. Example "Hair Cut Feb 19, 2011 at 10:00 AM".

I use Saisuke with Google calendar. Saisuke and Google Calendar both let
you do the custom repeats. They are very flexible with scheduling. It's a
bit pricey for an app at $9.99 but in my opinion VERY worth it if you depend
on a custom calendar.

They also have a lite version to try before you buy:

I also use Pocket Informant and find it very good. Don't know of any
Calendar app that would allow plan language entry.

I use Pocket Informant and the answer is yes. You can adjust the
flexibility of repeating events to as many days, weeks, years you want or
need.

Thanks for the tip, I tried the free, and jumped to the paid version within minutes. Great app. I did get a little screwed up with double listings. But turned the iPhone calendar off in the App settings. So far this is fantastic. I also use an app called QuickCal which allows me to enter plain text such as Hair Cut tomorrow at 4:00 PM. And it will end up in the Saisuke app.

app that maps your nearby contacts

Posted by: "Steve Kane" skane-l@skaneco.com   skanecocom

Is there any app that will map my nearby contacts?

To elaborate on what I mean: I open an app on the iPhone, it locates me, then looks at my contacts and shows my location on a map and shows those of my contacts that are near my current location on the map.

Thanks.

Google latitude works well to see where your friends are. They also have to
have Latitude and give you permission to see their location.

Brent, thanks for your reply, but I mean it is the addresses in the iPhone Contacts app that I would like to see on a map nearby my current location. Stores, restaurants, people, companies, whatever.

That would be great but personal contacts
don't stay in the same location like
businesses do.

Outlook Calendar not syncing

Posted by: "MYOB" myob@ameritech.net   loganact@ameritech.net

Mon Jan 24, 2011 1:55 pm (PST)

I have an iPhone 4, using iTunes 10.1.1.4, Outlook 2010 (32bit), and iOS
4.2.1.

For some reason, it has stopped syncing calendar items from my desktop
to the iPhone. I do not know exactly when this started (last week I
noticed I did not get a reminder for an appointment I knew I had), nor
do I know what exactly I may have changed on the computer or iPhone to
have caused this. I have not added or removed any applications to the
PC that I can recall.

I have reset the sync history.

Uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes (I used Revo Uninstaller to do my
best to truly wipe iTunes from my PC).

I have tried forcing iTunes not to sync calendars, and when I do, all
calendar data is removed from the iPhone.

I have tried forcing iTunes to replace all data on the iPhone. It does
replace most of the data, but newly created items do not sync.

I am about at my wits end trying to debug this, so I hope someone here
can offer a suggestion or two.

Thanks.

Netflix?

I understand the iphone is coming to Verizon.
I have been told that I will be able to download Netflix movies from this phone if I get one. Does anyone know for sure? That would be the main reason that I would be getting the phone as I don't really know that much about it. (That's why I joined the group! *S*) And, yes, I do have the Netflix account.
Thanks tons.

Speaking of Netflix, is there a good iPhone app to manage your Netflix queues?

I've been using Phone Flix, but it's not very reliable.

I use my iPhone 3Gs to watch Netflix movies in streaming. We assume that Verizon will have the same capability, but they you know that assume is a mighty big word.

No, you can not download the movie to the iPhone, you stream it, so I don't think you will be able to download it __from__ the iPhone to anything else. That is not even available to your computer. It is DVD through the mail, or stream it to your device.

Yes you can set custom repeats from 2 days to 100 and any number in between
as well as monthly yearly etc. It is very versatile.
