For me I'd be inclined to get it rather than a Kindle as that is what I would use it for at this point. Take advantage of the lovely bigger screen. I'd rather buy the iPad than the Kindle at this moment. However I know that it is billed as something much more than the Kindle.
Now I'm a relative newcomer to iPhone, Just as I waited for a couple of generations before I took the plunge, I will do the same for the iPad. I'm particularly looking for more memory but I'm looking for that from my iphone too LOL.

The comments I am seeing here remind me SO much of the comments I was seeing after the iPhone came out.
"It doesn't do this; it doesn't do that; Apple screwed up; no one will want it; Apple will lose a bundle."
The talking heads think it will sell over 1,000,000 in 2010.
