Shut off most of the functionality of the phone (Wifi, 3G, Bluetooth, location services), and don't use what you leave turned on.

I bet that phone doesn't have a GPS receiver or a Wifi receiver or a Bluetooth transmitter/
I have a computer that runs for 2 weeks on two AA batteries, has a CGA-resolution screen, and fits in my pocket. But it doesn't DO 99% of what my MacBook Pro does.

This sounds like you have a normal iPhone.
