Sounds like that spot is 'bad'. When mine wouldn' get recognized by itunes, at least it would still charge...and told me it wasn't my phone.
I know that's not what you want to hear though!
I'll be interested to hear what the other comments are....techlady

and it will not charge.
I've rebooted and tried switching the phone off and on a couple of times -- once with power cord attached, once without.
Also tried a couple of different cords, including external charging devices (Mophie, etc).
No action at all.
I've gently cleaned the points of contact with a small brush.
Battery continues to slowly drain.
Obviously I cannot restore since the phone is not recognized by the computer.
Any thoughts?
BTW, closest Apple store is 90 mins away.
