I won't get tethering until and unless I *really* need it because I want to keep my unlimited option open.

That said, Speed Test on my iPhone 4, with Wifi turned off, using 3G out here in the farm country north of Baltimore, just gave me these results:
Download - 3.84 megabits per second
Upload - 1.60 megabits per second

This is FASTER than my DSL line!
