When they announced the plan, before Hulu officially announced coming to the iPhone, I decided to hold on to the grandfathered unlimited plan for a while just to see what was coming down the road.

I'm sure Hulu and others talked to AT&T about their plans for cellular steaming, what with all the fiasco about the dropped calls in certain areas. You can make the nicest train in the world, but if it does not fit anyones tracks, it's not going anywhere.

I got laid off in February and I'd love to cut my overhead some. I currently could live with the lower of the two plans, easily, especially since you supposedly could easily switch between them.

But, I was wondering about my usage if I tethered (which I currently see no need for, for me), played Pandora (which I used to at work, but not home), started to buy books and use iBooks, and Hulu was just a rumor at the time. I decided to keep the unlimited plan and get all my old data usage records graphed out. Currently it would make sense to go for the cheaper plan. Six months down the road, who knows.

I downloaded Hulu Plus last night and watched 2 free 43 minute shows (with commercials) and my data usage this morning was 163 Mb higher than before. YMMV. Frankly, I am not _currently_ seeing enough content for me to pay $10/mo.

It is also possible that AT&T has offered me an $18 early upgrade instead of their original $200 fee to upgrade my 3GS. I texted *new# and got the $18 offer. It did not say if that included a iPhone 4.

So for me, it is wait and see.
