When I plugged in my iPhone, it offered to restore from my iTouch backup. Of
course treated it as a "new" device! Especially since I don't want all the
same stuff on both of them, quite aside from apps that won't work on both.

I never did have a hold (pending charge) put on my CC but it did show the
charge transaction date of the day it shipped & posting date as the day
after I actually got it (a day early!) at the ATT store. The other stuff I
bought while in the store showed actual transaction date & posting date 2
days later. HOWEVER, the day I charged the phone (6/15 meltdown ordering
day) their on-line swipe-system crashed along with everything else (but
*after* my order went through! YAY!) so it went through as a
paper-mechanical-swipe transaction (remember those? :-)).
