Chuck the credit card thing is normal, they put a hold on my card for a week
then released it and charged it after it shipped but the day before I
received it.

The best way is to set it up as a NEW device and manually go through each
tab Info > Apps > Music > Movies, etc and select what you want to sync -
Apple and numerous blogs will say to restore your previous backup and it may
work and you may not have problems but everyone needs to remember the iPhone
is a computer - when you get a new computer you don't restore the OS and all
of your files from a one, two, or three year old computer - you reinstall
your applications and copy what data you need you need - the same thing
should be done on the iPhone, you will have a lot less problems in the long
run.
