The Reader

I got my shipping notification this AM.  Supposedly, I am going to have it on 06/30/10.
 
Funny thing is - as of yet, no credit card charge.  The day I ordered, there was a "hold", but that cleared, and no funds have been taken yet.  Is this normal?
 
I am going to the AT+T store to get a case, probably today, that way I have it before the phone arrives.  So, next question......:
 
Is the consensus that the group likes or dislikes the "bumper"?  I am thinking that the bumper, with a screen protector, fits my "minimalist" attitude.  Although, I would like a protector for the back, too.
 
Also, since this question has probably only been asked 100 times, so I'll be the 101st.  Should I NOT sync form a back-up?  Or, exactly, what is the BEST process for setting it up once it arrives?
