Ah! You added it to a family plan. Good for you. Doesn't work for a bachelor like me. I only need one phone, in fact if work gives me one, I forward the calls, so I only have to carry one.

But you still needed a contract to start the family plan. If you want to take advantage to upgrade, then you have to sign a new contract.

What upsets me, and I thought you had found a way around it, was if you bring an unsubsidized phone to a carrier, you still pay the subsidized rates.

There is no discount, so where do the extra profits go? They sure don't land in my pocket or yours. Let's see, you can add a phone on a family plan for $10, but I have to pay the full $39. Ok there is some overhead to maintain the account records, but where does the other $25 go?
