[apple-iphone] Battery Drain on 3GS w/ iOS4
I've been using iOS on my 3GS for about a week now. I have to say I'm not impressed. Battery life has been a problem. The phone seems to leave stuff hanging around in the background that sucks the battery down. Sometimes but not always, the location services icon is on even when I've closed an app that uses it. When this happens I have to manually close background apps to get it to go away. Again, this isn't consistent; even with the same app.
Now tonight, I checked "usage" and "standby" times by tapping settings > general > usage. I found that my standby and usage times were the same, about 11 1/2 hrs. This is the time that has elapsed since the last full charge. So that implied to me the phone had been "running" some app all day. This, despite my closing out all background apps several times today. So, I powered down and restarted the phone. Now standby and usage times are reflecting the actual times.
So what's been running in the background that I can't close? Is this responsible for my battery problems?
I really want to go back to the earlier OS. I will give a go at restoring the phone, though, before I attempt to get Apple to downgrade my OS.
Bob
