[apple-iphone] Fwd: v2.1 Comment

Monday, December 28, 2009 10:17 PM By Livemail

Hi all,

This is a response I received from an app *QuakeWatch; my favorite app on
iphone, most useful*

As I mentioned in my email there does not to be much mention of quakes in BC
which is definitely an earthquake zone

There's an interesting response below which brings some optimism for this
feature which is well worth it, better than other

quake apps, I think anyways

Hi James,
Thanks for the feedback. After releasing the app with the USGS feed, I
started getting comments from people around the world about earthquakes that
were not being reported and came to realize that the USGS is very
US-centric. So that is why I just added the EMSC (sorry, it seems to be down
right now and you can turn it off in the settings to speed up launch times
until they get it working again) for European quakes and I am planning on
adding a Canadian and New Zealand feed in an upcoming release (gotta find
some more time in my life!).

Here's the CA link, and you can see there are a bunch of 1.0 and greater
quakes in BC that are being reported:

gion=canada&tpl_output=rss

So, yes, I am aware of your concern and hope to get it resolved. Love BC,
BTW. Used to live in Seattle and made many trips up to Vancouver. Thanks for
your email and for using the app!

Cheers,
-terence

I notice there are many places in Washington state listed as nearest /

closest but never British Columbia as we are certainly in an

earthquake zone no less than Washington

Is there a source or earthquake app to inform on quakes as little as

1.0? I hope so or please add BC & let those using QuakeWatch know

I like your app, you're the only one I can directly email to others

Any updates we should know about or get improved version

Thanks,
