I forgot to ask.... I hate when I uninstall things and bits and pieces of
software remains. is this the case if I install and later uninstall.

Growl is just the notification system that pops up to notify status, etc
can be turned on or off on a per app basis, I use it for a lot if programs
but you can always disable it if you don't use it for anything other than
Pollux
