IPhone Resale Questions
Posted by: "BONNIE" COOOLKITTY@AOL.COM cooolkitty

I just upgraded to an iPhone 4 from my white 32 GB 3GS.
2 questions:
1. Afterr resetting and erasing everything - do I also need to remove the sim card, and if so why? Wouldn't that be a problem for whomever buys it next and make them less likely to buy?
2. What is the going price one could expect to sell a white 32GB phone for?
It seems like a lot of people want unlocked phones and mine is locked.
Thank you,
Bonnie

SIM cards are unique to the user's mobile account, not to the phone. You
should remove it because:-
1. If you cancel it, no one else can use it;
2. If you don't cancel it, the new owner might use it at your expense.
If your phone is locked, that means it can only be used with the same
network. That is why it is less attractive to buyers.
Have you looked in ebay and craig's list for typical prices?

Re: Mail -- Serious Omissions in Program

Which ios are you using on your iPhone?
Copy and pasts work by pressing one finger on area of email or URL in safari. Select or select all and then copy the selected text or URL. Goto your email and press with one finger to bring up paste
Bcc is in settings for mail. Set to on. Then in the email you will see bcc to self that you can back out and add contact you want to bcc
You can set up folders in other mail accounts suc as gmail, yahoo online they will appear on your iPhone to use for filing incoming or outgoing mail.
Hope this helps

Battery Failures

Recently, my battery on a 3GS seemed to be failing much too early in the day, and worse without much active use by me.
So, first I tried setting all notifications off, shutting off bluetooth, and putting such things as Email on minimum checking. Didn't work -- one day this week the phone went dead about 5:30 pm. I actually had to borrow someone else's phone to call home; how sad for one who's avidly promoted how great is the iPhone.
Next, I tried a double-click of the home button to check just what Apps were running. AMAZING!! At least a dozen were going, using up juice, without any input by me. So, pressing each one at a time, up came the red minus sign and pressing that turned the application off.
Yesterday was a normal day, and when got home in the evening the phone still had about 35% juice left. I can live with that since I always recharge and sync the device each night.
So, problem seems to be solved, I hope. I'll continue testing, but what seems to happen is that if I check my mail the device leave Mail running. Same for Safari when I check google voice, the Facebook app, text messages, and so on.

Re: IPhone 4 restore from old

It gives me a number of options to back up from, some are undated, and then it backs up from an older backup and not the latest. How do I solve this problem so that I may switch from the old to the new phone?

Is it possible to delete all previous backups since they are undated and then make a fresh one of my old phone? After that I would restore from the backup to the new phone and hopefully it would then have all my latest data.

New iPad

According to Taiwanese industry publicationDigiTimes, the suppliers are completing validationfor the second-generation iPad, which will maintain the same 9.7-inch screen when it debuts in the first quarter of 2011.
"Component suppliers of iPad are expected to start shipments for the second-generation iPad at the beginning of 2011," the report said.
Specifically cited suppliers were TPK Touch Solutions, WinTek, Cando, Cimei Innolux. Together, they are said to be validating "ultra-thin glass-based touch panels with Apple."
As reported last week by AppleInsider, Apple plans to move aggressively on adding FaceTime functionality to its entire line of iOS devices, leaving the iPad as the last device to receive the upgrade. A person with proven knowledge of the company's future plans indicated that an iPad equipped with a forward facing camera is already in the advanced testing stages at Apple.
Though Apple typically follows an annual upgrade pattern for its devices, it was said that Apple could refresh the iPad line ahead of this year's holiday season. That person indicated that the FaceTime-equipped iPad was tracking for an introduction no later than the first quarter of 2011.
FaceTime is Apple's open standard for video chat. Currently available on the iPhone 4 and fourth-generation iPod touch, it requires Wi-Fi to operate.

A hyphen "-" tap (or hold and move) "123" icon and under the 1, an
underscore "_" is "123" icon, "#+=" icon, under [ (same location different
layout).

GV Mobile + hits the App Store, finally

Sent to you by Bill Boulware via Google Reader: GV Mobile + hits the
App Store, finally via Boy Genius Report by Boy Genius on 9/18/10
We have been waiting for this day for a long time. Not just because we
love GV Mobile + so much, but because it shows that Apple has finally
relaxed some of their App Store policies and will likely start being a
bit more competitive with other platforms (hopefully). Now, back to GV
Mobile +… it has been approved moments ago, developer Sean Kovacs tells
us, and the price is $2.99. It is packed full of features — everything
you'd want in a Google Voice native application, and we can't wait
until everyone gets to try it out. So, what are you waiting for? We
have direct linked the iTunes app listing for you.
Note: if the link doesn't work for you immediately, it's because it
literally just hit the App Store servers and is being propagated
throughout the world. Just keep trying, ok?
Thanks, Sean!

Well, hasn't hit the US app store yet. The dev (Sean Kovac) said (via
twitter) that he would set it to free if #gvmobile trends on Twitter. I
hope he does, as I paid for the original "GV Mobile", but apparently he
deleted that when it was originally pulled from the app store, so he named
the new one "GV Mobile +".

It is not populating the iTunes Server Farm very quickly - it seems that the
server(s) half of the reviewers are on have it but it hasn't propogated
throughout the US yet - the link is
http://itunes.apple.com/ WebObjects/ MZStore.woa/ wa/viewSoftware? id=392608246& mt=8but
until it makes it to the server your account is on, it will say it
isn't
available.
Sean did Tweet that if it trends tonight, he will make it free. He also
said that it he will tweet some first come first serve promo codes once it
is fully available, may be free one night soon for a few hours and is trying
to figure out a way for anyone who bought it before to possibly get
refunded.

Is iOS 4.1 update worth it, or does it come w/problems (for 3GS)?
Posted by: "cocosolobaby" elisamalo@yahoo.com cocosolobaby

(1) I was wondering if anyone has heard of people having problems with the newest update to iOS 4.1? I have a 3GS.
(2) Is there an advantage to updating to 4.1, or should I stay with what I currently have: 4.0.2?
P.S. - I'm real sorry if this has been discussed before. I tried to do a search and didn't find anything.

4.1 has a lot of bug fixes and features not in 4.0.x - all phones and
touches should be updated to it.
