But you can do that from your iPhone too correct?

I try to do everything from my iPhone. I even use a Bluetooth keyboard at work to take long notes throughout the day.

Okay. Now I understand your question.
You are right. HanDBase desktop does not do true sync. I have to overwrite the databases just as you say. I am okay with that as I mainly do all editing from my iPhone. Desktop to only view and maintain a good backup.

I use Excel for a number of things around the house: books for my Kindle, yardage charts to keep track of what I sew, and one for my husband's DVDs since he has bought multiple copies of some. I'm hoping to move them to the iPad but I haven't warmed up to either Numbers or Sheet2. I bought a keyboard for the iPad to see if the issue is the program or the screen keyboard. I don't care for 1 finger typing.

Do you see ListPro as a substitute for Excel?

Thanks Roger - I thought I might have missed a setting. I do as you do -
Most of my entries through the phone then "syncing" and overwriting the
desktop. I then have a backup and if I need a large screen to view an
extensive database I use the desktop.

Not if you're using Excel as it's intended to be used, to crunch numbers.

As a way to keep track of things, most definitely. Download the app
from the AppStore, it's free, and play around with it. The desktop
companion can be used for a month's free trial so you can give it a
thorough workout before deciding if you want to pay for the desktop
part.

And as an added bonus, I've found that the guy who seems to be in
charge at Ilium and handles most of the support to be very responsive.

Tehcnically, yes. But I keep my inventory lists in programs from
Collectorz.com, which retrieves the item details online for me, all I
have to do is scan or enter the barcode. I export a csv from there
and import the csv into ListPro.

At last count, I have over 200 books, almost that many DVD/BDs, and
over 800 CDs. No way am I going to (re)enter all of that manually.
Oh, and because I have over 40GB of mp3s and "only" a 32GB device, I
also keep a database of the individual music tracks with me.

The older versions work fine. I used a .Mac last year for my renewal.

Just one major point. Make sure you do it BEFORE your expiration date. Otherwise, it is possible Apple will hit your credit card or cancel your account. Unlikely, but possible!

Turn off the auto renewal in your iTunes account if, you plan to buy a renewal elsewhere. IIRC, Apple auto renewed my account the first time like 45 days early. I have since turned it off for renewal.

I believe Bill is correct, the redemption code is the good, but the _if_ there is a CD or DVD, it may be an older one if you get the "old" version. My recent one, did not have the optical disc.

And when we buy something from the Apple Store, we are invites to buy Mobile Me for $30 less. Bur they never ask if it's a renewal?
So is this invitation just for new people?
(which is annoying because Apple should know by our account that we already have MoMe.) ghods, i've had it for years!

Yep, I was visiting our NEW Apple store today in my city and asked the sales rep about the cord problem and he said yes, they would replace it. Nice to know.

Not with my iWhatever sync/charge cords. I'm still using the same
cord that came with my iPod Classic about three years ago. I use it
for the Classic, I've used it for the iPhone and I now use it for the
iTouch.

Note, however, that it generally just sits on my desk, plugged into
the back of my computer and never under any stress that would fray the
joins.

I just tried this but they were going to charge me $41.41. I guess I will
wait til I'm near an apple store to exchange.

You can also go to support.apple.com and enter your serial number and they
will send you a new one in the mail and you have to put your broken one in
the included returned packaging within (I think) 14 days or they charge you
for a second power cable if you don't return the broken one.

Is there a way to go from the top of the page in Safari to the bottom of the page quickly on the iPhone?

Excellent query. I'd love to be able to do that as well!

How to Select E-mail Account

I have multiple e-mail accounts that I monitor with my iPhone 4. However, anytime I reply, it always goes through my corporate Exchange account.

Is there a way to specify/change the sending account from the iPhone?

I think there is a general syncing issue between Facebook itself and
the Facebook applications as I saw this with the iPhone FB app and
constantly with the Blackberry FB app.

I have accordingly just used the FB mobile site, m.facebook.com Or if
you prefer, there is an iPhone/Touch specific URL. But I prefer the
generic mobile site. FB will sniff the browser/device you're using
when you connect to m.facebook.com and offer you a link at the bottom
of the page for your specific device type.

Try holding down home button fir about 10 seconds when you connect your iPhone via USB cable. See if it connects to iPhoto if you are on a mac. This will help diagnose if cable problem or not.

iPhone has changed nationality

Please can anyone explain why my iPhone 3G has decided it is French, and will NOT be told to alter its language or keyboard.

It is quite clearly set for UK English and for a QWERTY keyboard - going into SETTINGS - GENERAL - using either the INTERNATIONAL or the KEYBOARD buttons, the settings are quite plain and clear.

IT is using a French keyboard in all functions and apps that use a keyboard - e.g. SPACE is ESPACE and RETURN is RETOUR (plus other appropriate variations). the layout is AZERTY and not QWERTY. I have even tried switching to other languages and keyboards then back again, but it won't listen. What is in SETTINGS appears to be irrelevant - it just does its own thing
