What is the error? Have you tried to Google it or contact Apple

3G on 4.1 - Verdict?

So, now that people have had a chance to try 4.1 on 3G phones, what's the verdict? Worth upgrading from 3.1.3 or no? I am more interested in speed and performance than the additional features. If the upgrade will adversely affect speed and performance, I'll pass. What do you think? TIA.

Does anyone know of a good app or website I can go to for live streaming TV?
I can't believe no one has come out with a decent app yet for our fancy
Iphones. I will not go out and buy some kind of new equipment for home to be
able to watch it on my phone. There has to be a good website if not an app,
I would think. Some of them charge a subscription fee but I would be willing
to pay something per month if the service was good.

TIA,

For Live TV? The only way that I am aware of is buying a Slingbox and
buying the slingplayer App - neither are cheap but there are no monthly
fees.

For non-live / TV on DVD there is Netflix at $8.99 a month and free App,
Hulu is free and HuluPlus is I think $10.99 for 'more episodes'.

Local contacts on iPhone from Exchange?

Posted by: "Betsy Schwartz" betsys@gmail.com   betsys99

I sync my iPhone Contacts with Exchange server. This means that when
the Exchange server is down or out of reach, I have no local contacts
at all. Is there a way to replicate the list onto the phone?

Thanks, Betsy

They should stay on the phone, you just wouldn't be able to send/receive
updates until service is back. What phone and iOS version are you on?
Otherwise, whenever you had no data connectivity (Airplane mode / WiFi Off)
you would have no contacts or calendar, etc. Unless there is some security
feature turned that HAS to connect / verify w/Exchange server before showing
contacts but I haven't seen anyone else report this...

Apple updates Remote.app for new AppleTV

Posted by: "Bill Boulware" bill.boulware@gmail.com   boulware0224

Tue Sep 28, 2010 10:58 am (PDT)

Sent to you by Bill Boulware via Google Reader: Apple updates
Remote.app for new AppleTV via 9 to 5 Mac by Seth Weintraub on 9/28/10

Version 2 just hit the App Store with some new features:

The new Remote.app also gets updated to Retina on the iPhone 4 and
better takes advantage of the real estate of the iPad. The shared
libraries feature should also make playing video much easier (rather
than having to open the video and click the AirPlay button).

If you look at the new iPad version, the interface is almost like the
iTunes desktop interface!

And don't forget that new icon!

Lots of new screenshots below:

Things you can do from here:
- Subscribe to 9 to 5 Mac using Google Reader
- Get started using Google Reader to easily keep up with all your
favorite sites

Love the look on the ipad. Also like how you can click on the speaker icon on iphone or ipad and select your multiple speakers. We use two airport express devices to send our iTunes libraries to speakers in the house. I am able to access my husband's computer iTunes library via home sharing with the remote and play not only my iTunes library but select songs from his. Also like the ability to create a genius playlist directly with the remote.

It is working great and has nice interface. Apple did good on this one. Next step will need to get the new AppleTV, but still trying to convince the husband we need one.

Thanks for sharing this news today.

Google Voice Approved for iPhone [REPORT]

Posted by: "Bill Boulware" bill.boulware@gmail.com   boulware0224

Sent to you by Bill Boulware via Google Reader: Google Voice Approved
for iPhone [REPORT] via Mashable! by Jolie O'Dell on 9/28/10

iPhone users could see a Google Voice app for their mobile devices
within a few weeks, according to reports flying all over the web.

The latest round of rumors begins with a story on TechCrunch, whose
sources say the Google Voice app has been approved and will be arriving
in the App Store soon. We're more inclined to believe these rumors for
reasons we'll highlight below; but first, let's take a look at the long
and winding road that this app and platform have covered already.

The Google Voice/iOS saga began in the summer of 2009 when Google Voice
and all Google Voice-related apps were banned from the App Store. In
January 2010, Google rolled out an HTML5 version of Google Voice. As a
web app, it was a handy workaround for iPhone users.

Over the past few days, however, we've seen a few Google Voice-powered
apps returning to the App Store. After more than a year of banning
these applications, Apple allowed GV Connect, a $3 native app for
Google Voice on the iPhone, to be approved for sale in the store. The
following day, we noticed GV Mobile + had been App Store-approved, as
well.

Given this sudden reversal of policy, we can only assume that the
Google Voice HTML5 app has made an impression on Apple execs; iPhone
users apparently want Google Voice, and they'll take a workaround or
third-party app if they have to, but there's little reason at this
point not to simply let Google's app go through.

Do you think Apple should have resisted the inevitable this long?
