I'm still not clear if you have *your own user* on the borrowed laptop. If
you have, then anything in there is separate from anything in the owner's
user, but it will of course use space and I would ask the owner's
permission.

When you say "your own iTunes" do you mean an account at the iTunes Store?
If not, where is it?
