I drag and drop my ringtones to my phone, I don't have the box checked in itunes
at all. Doesn't matter where the song came from with the steps I posted
earlier.

I did find the way to show the file extensions in Windows 7 and was able to
change it. The 30 sec file shows up in my iTunes Ringtone folder, but I can't
get it into my iPhone. I click on sync ringtones, the phone syncs, but no
ringtone.
This was a song that I added from a CD that I'd bought years ago, not from
iTunes because I understand this can't be done with protected songs.
Oh well, ...
