I wonder why there is such a shortage of cases - not just the "Apple
Bumpers" but given that the phone design was leaked/stolen/reported months
in advance even if case manufacturers normally don't have the exact specs
they are usually ready to ship within days of launch if not in stores on
launch day - they should have been extra prepared this time or are that many
more people just buying cases because of the antennas?

As far as your scratches, I can't tell from the photo but I **think** that
it is just the "finger print resistant" coating that was scratched off - not
sure if it is worth your time or not but you can try to stop by an Apple
store if they have stock and see if they will replace it, when I was there
they were touting how "strong" the "glass" was and that it wouldn't scratch
or crack under 'normal' circumstances (keys, tables, pockets, etc).
