[apple-iphone] Is there a consensus on the antenna issue?

I have read several articles now along with some of Apple's open letter.
After using my IP4 for a few days now there does seem to a problem.

If I hold the phone normally in my left hand then the signal bars drop
slowly to zero. Move my hand and it gains a bar a second to full
strength again. we are in a good 3G area so full strength is pretty
normal. Apple's stance is that it is mainly an algorithm problem. That
would make sense except for some recent dropped calls. I was talking to
my son and got 3 beeps and the call dropped. That certainly didn't
happen before with the old 3GS.

Now I am not jumping up and down and throwing a temper tantrum over
this. I really like the new phone but also want to fix this problem. I
was thinking maybe some clear fingernail polish on the exposed antennas.
Do you think this will harm anything? Tape would tend to curl up quickly
in our high humidity.

Later,
Dave
