It does sound like the jack isn't fully inserted so it's not making proper connection with the internal channels in the phone.  Hopefully someone will have a suggestion for you without cracking the phone open.

Subject: [apple-iphone] Bad sound in headphones

Last night I was working out, and had plugged my relatively-new earphones into my iPhone. The sound wasn't good - it was as if the treble was way down, so I couldn't hear the vocals. The bass was ok, but a bit "electric" or "edgy" - almost with a crackle.

I pulled the earphone plugs, and the iPhone played find stand-alone. I later tried another set of earphones, and got the same sound.

I noticed with both sets that the plug won't go all the way in, so I'm assuming that's what's causing the trouble. I don't know if something is stuck in the jack, or what might be the problem.

I got my phone 7/09... not sure what to do.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!!!!
