Patrick, since you do iPhone repair, I am in hopes that you can
help me here. I want to find an external battery supply for my
iPhone 3GS but the ones that I have been looking at have had
numbers that have left some questions for me, mostly like, will
this over or underpower my phone. Apple will not tell me what
the minimum and maximum Voltages or Amperages are for the 3GS, so
I have been googeling and finding very little. Since all of these
batteries are based on USB that puts them at 5 volts or just a tad
higher none that I have seen are over 5.3 volts. But then the
next bit of info says

This seems to be conflicting info to me since these are both 5000
mAh batteries, and although the numbers are different, so are the
parameters, yet are they both the same? And in addition, will
either one or both hurt my iPhone?
I know that the Mophie is iPhone/Apple approved and I have one,
plus I have two Mili units which are virtually the same as the
Mophie, but these are just not large enough for what I need to do.
I need as Tim Allen would say, "More Power" but I am looking for
an economical way to do it with out hurting my phone. Could you
possibly shed some light on this for me please?

I find that hard to believe.
I have fixed many iPhones and the Home button is not attached to
any long
cable. It has 2 contacts that touch directly on the board.

Its possible the touchscreen could be a result of the cable
becoming
partially attached. That device is segmented so if a vertical or
horizontal
section went out that's more likely a cable issue, or even
software issue.

Let us know if a power cycle fixes it.

I posted on this once earlier this year. My Home button stopped
working and the Apple Genius told me it was a disconnect of a
long
cable running most of the long dimension of the phone. He
reconnected
it and in ten minutes I was back to normal operation. However,
he also
said that mine was an unusual presentation of that cable
malfunction -
usually it presented as a complete or partial touchscreen
malfunction
as you describe. You might want to look into the cable as a
cause of
your partial touchscreen dysfunction.
