The newest version is called Nike+GPS and does not require special shoes or
sensor.

Yes - there is an App to buy that uses only the phone (now that it has every
sensor possible) and there is the built in Nike+ that can be turned on and
off that requires the shoe fob.

I thought the Nike+GPS was the replacement app. Didn't realize there were to
different things.

Yup, all iPhones and iPod touches have Nike + option in settings built in or
you can buy the app and never use built in.

Speaker problem

I find my left side speaker does not work in the hands free mode. I am not sure whether it is a real problem and how to fix it.

There is only one speaker on the bottom of an iPhone. The other side is the
microphone.

iPhones batteries are not soldered but they do require you to remove the screen and the board to get to them. They are stuck to the housing by an adhesive. I've actually changed out hundreds of batteries as well as dock ports, screens, cameras etc. It can be done just not recommended if your not familiar with the internal components of the device. The iPod touch batteries and the first gen iPhone batteries on the other hand are soldered.

Have you called AppleCare? Or, if it's convenient, make a Genius Bar appointment at the Apple Store.

Are you by chance on a windows pc with AVG antivirus or zonealarm with the old engine? If so try shutting them off, disconnect from the Internet and sync. I had nightmares with syncing but since updating to the newer zonealarm engine and switching to AVAST I have not had a single problem. I could not get my photos on the phone half the time. Had freezes and lockups and my iPod content would not pass to the phone.
Just a thought. If you don't have that configuration please disregard.

Anyone else get the wrong temperature on their icon? It's not off by 2 or 3 degrees but it's always off by at least 10 or 12 degrees.

New iPhone 4 with broken microphone
Posted by: "Christopher Erickson" sinisalo@gmail.com twopennysam
Thu Dec 16, 2010 10:12 am (PST)
Two days ago my new iPhone 4 arrived but the microphone wouldn't work.
Since I live four hours away from an Apple store and AT&T doesn't have any
more in the area I had to send it to Apple. The turn around time is only
going to be three days so that's not too bad. What I was wondering is if
anyone else on this list has had this problem. I'm just curious about the
frequency of this issue.
Thanks,
Chris
