I am having the same kind of problems. With the cannot be deleted thing, I thought maybe my trash was full so emptied it and then was able to delete mail again. I also changed the settings so it dumps trash daily. Hope this helps

I'll delete a message, and empty the trash. Days later the message shows up as unread in my inbox.

I also have trouble downloading the new messages. Often, when I delete a message I've read, I get a message that says the message cannot be moved to trash, and it remains in the inbox. If I close and reopen my email, I can delete it.

My other email address works fine, but it's not web based, so I can't really use that for a comparison.

If anyone else is having similar issues, then I'll blame Yahoo. Otherwise, I'll have to do a full restore of my iPhone - something I hope to avoid.
