RE: [apple-iphone] Fwd: CNN iPad Reply
I agree. The only apps I am planning to keep on the iPad
that are not iPad or universal are the ones you have to pay
for twice. I have a lot of apps that need doubling now but
am going thru them and deleting some every day. Many don't
even rotate or orient correctly on the iPad.
I love BeeJive IM but paid for it once on a BB, then again
for the iPhone and now they want me to pay a third time for
an iPad version. I really hope more developers don't go this
way. IM+ IM app went universal and didn't make you pay twice.
The AOL AIM app did likewise and even better its free now and
still pay on the iPhone.

Right, but the visual fidelity isn't as good as it could/should
be since 2x mode is just increasing the size of the image but not
matching the size increase with an increase in data points per unit
area. It may not be as obvious on the CNN app, but on multiple other
iPhone apps the size increase causes a very noticeable degradation of
image quality. You (and I) can certainly use it on iPad, but one
feature of both iPh and iPad that is so appealing is the image
quality, and I want to take advantage of that in an app (like CNN,
NYTimes, et.al.) that I use a lot.
