It is not the iPhone that must be their network - in the states one of the
BIG selling points in most of the ads is that you can use the phone while
using the data connection on AT&T's 3G network.
On a side note - Verizon's (CDMA) network you can not use the voice and data
connections at the same time but Voice takes precedence over data so the
phone will stop data action, and ring the phone but that is a different
network.
