Yes, you need to backup and transfer those purchases back to a computer with
your iTunes account. You would have to use iTunes to upgrade anyway but
backing up is important as well - Transfering your purchases is important
but Apple does keep track on a user id basis so if you log back in with your
user id and password you can always download Apps you already purchased
(unlike music) - I am curious as ot how they will do with the new book store
(if it resembers Audible & Amazon) where you can re-download at any time or
if you have to keep it or risk buying it twice...)
