Yeah. It is not a defect. That is it's feature to save power and to prevent your face from touching any command buttons. Imagine your cheek dropping the call without your intention.

Besides, you do not press any function while it is on your ear, do you? So, you put it in front of you, then the screen reappears, and tap whatever you need to tap.

The phone is designed to do this. It's supposed to go dark when the phone is brought up to your ear. You should eventually hear dialing, but the screen is supposed to go dark. That's not a defect.

I'm new and I've not been successful at searching for this. I'll initiate a call and when I put the phone near my ear it is silent and the screen is blank. When I move it away, I see it switch from blank to regular call activity. Move it back to ear, it blanks. This must also happen to others.
