Whether or not 3G is available in the area and if it is activated on your phone determines if you are using it or not. Plus, more than likely if you have an iPhone you have an unlimited date package so no additional charges should occur.

I downloaded a golf application which maps the courses that i play on. this is a GPS application. am i using 3g network when running this application? am i being charged for internet service?
