The Reader

I use it and it works quite well. The WiFi restriction is imposed by Apple.
It applies to all 3rd party apps.

I use it periodically. It seems to work as advertised. One caveat though,
it will only sync via wifi. In other words, your iPhone must be on the same
wifi network as the PC or Mac that you are syncing to. It will not work via
the cable used to charge and sync with iTunes.
