Chuck;
I have to agree with you. I upgraded from a 3G to a 4 and find the 4 ( even after they changed the bars ) to have better reception.
I'm a truck driver & travel all over the western half of the US. I know of places where my 3G had 0 - 1 bars where my iP4 is 2 - 3 in the same location.
