I spoke to a friend who told me about how the display goes off when holdng the phone by your head and then back on when you hold it away. I do move around alot and use speakerphone all the time, so I think that's why the display is fading in and out while using the phone.

Yes they are. If your 2 yr contract is up learn from my mistake and order online to avoid the $199 phones being sold out and the long lines.
