Re: [apple-iphone] Screen res question

960 x 640 (326 ppi) compared with 480 x 320 (163 ppi)

I really cannot see the point on such a small screen. Even people with
excellent sight will need to use zoom frequently if the higher resolution is
exploited.

If each pixel is mapped to 4 pixels occupying exactly the same physical
area, surely it will look exactly the same?

[apple-iphone] Screen res question

Sunday, May 30, 2010 5:22 PM By Livemail

Rumor strongly suggests the next-gen iPhone will have quadruple the screen pixels of the current model.

Does anyone know if Apps are "pixel-mapped" or "screen-mapped"?

Will our Apps utilize the full screen area of the next-gen phone without having to be re-written, or will they look tiny on the screen until they ARE re-written?

And if the former, will they look twice as detailed, or just coarse and pixel-doubled?

Re: [apple-iphone] iphone insurance

I actually hope they DON'T - unless AT&T redoes the upgrade policy, the
earliest that those of us who are 'early adopters' with qualifying accounts
(2 or more lines and primary line is >$100/mo) qualify is 6/20/10 (1 year
and 1 day after we last upgraded on the 6/19 launch of the 3GS) so if they
release new phones on the 7th (announcement day) I would have to wait about
2 weeks or just enough time for the initial run to sell out ;-(.

Gdocs will also handle those files.

Subject: [apple-iphone] Need App Recommendations

Last week I replaced my old Windows Mobile phone with an iPhone 3GS and can't find an app that will handle some of the functionality I had on the old phone. Specifically, I need a recommendations for an app that will handle the following:

1. Email app that will permit more than one attachment (.doc file, photo, .txt file, etc.)

2. Word processing app that will open, edit, and save Microsoft Office files.

I'm sure these subjects have been discussed before but search didn't produce any recommendations. Hope someone with more experience with the iPhone can provide some suggestions. Any recommendations well be very much appreciated.
