You can only use them for iTunes.

There are some legitimate sites where you can *swap* gift cards,
although you lose some value. She might also be able to trade them
locally.

iOS 4.3 Finally Bringing Ability To Cancel App Downloads

Sent to you by Brent via Google Reader: iOS 4.3 Finally Bringing
Ability To Cancel App Downloads via App Advice by Ammaar on 2/1/11

Today we stumbled across a pretty nifty new feature in Apple's yet
unreleased iOS 4.3 and we thought we'd share with you as it's a
particularly interesting one; the ability to cancel app downloads.

Yes, finally. Apple is making it possible with iOS 4.3 to cancel the
download of an app mid-progress on both the iPhone and iPad. There have
been many times where I started downloading an app only to realize its
excessive size and wanted to cancel. Unfortunately until now, I was
just stuck with it on my homescreen until it finally completes or
somehow disappears after a reboot.

The feature is quite simple to use. All you have to do is enter the
icon arrangement mode ("Wiggle mode") as you normally do to delete an
app. This time however, you'll notice the 'x' appear over the currently
downloading app as well. Just hit it, confirm and iOS will proceed to
interrupt the download and delete the app.

Happy?

I doubt... I believe the purchase is made before it starts downloading.
The only benefit here is it solves the problem of having a "ghost" icon being
stuck on your home screen.

iPhone useage question

Perhaps a redundant question, but can an iPhone access the internet using WI-FI without having the phone operational? Thanks for the reply.

Yes. Turn on Airplane Mode. This will turn all the radios off. Then turn Wi-Fi back on.

If you mean that you have an old iPhone that is not connected and used as a phone, then the answer is yes.

I gave my original iPhone to my granddaughter to use. Basically it becomes like an iPod touch. Functional with wifi access but no phone capabilities. She can listen to the music, view the photos, use the game and educational apps and also view the internet and send emails when hooked to wifi.

:-)

If you download skype/google voice/line 2 or some VOIP application then the
Phone can be used.

If you still need the GPS, you could also simply take the SIM card out (at least with the AT&T phones).

Engadget by Tim Stevens on 2/1/11
If you've ever used an app like Shazam to detect a song playing on the
radio you're a long way toward knowing what the new IntoNow app can do.
With just a few seconds of audio it can detect what you're watching,
give you plenty of information about that content, then let you add it
to your Netflix queue. You can go on to share what you're watching upon
a plethora of social networks, even see what your friends are watching.
It relies on a platform called SoundPrint, an accumulation of 266 years
worth of content that is constantly growing, constantly indexing 130
channels in real-time. (Think of the punditry!) Check it out in the
video below or just give it a download from the App Store. Right now it
is iOS only, but we're told Android and other flavors are on the way.

My unlimited plan was re-instated!

Posted by: "Ann elias" Ann1957ann@aol.com   ann1957ann

Tue Feb 1, 2011 1:30 pm (PST)

I just got off the phone with AT&T...I started our chat with how much it would cost me to end my contract with them. They asked me why...and I told that them I have been with them from the original iPhone and I had the unlimited plan then for $20...I finally upgraded when the iPhone 4 came out..and I lost the unlimited plan and all my rollover minutes and now I pay $15 for 200mb and $5 for 200 messages. I was very nice and just felt that I was not treated fairly and now that I have options I feel like I was going to change carries...guess what...my unlimited plan was re-instated...nice does pay off when they don't have a corner on the market now. I am so glad I called.

Ann, you should not have lost your unlimited data for getting a new phone, and you managed to get that back.

You should also no have lost your rollover minutes you did not change phone numbers. I changed my iphone from a 303 area code to another area code. I lost my 1700 plus rollover minutes, but I they gave me back 500 minutes. Enough to allow me to keep from going into over time charges, until I have built up the rollover minutes.

Give them another call.

I'm so happy for you. Sometimes, you just need people skills to play them
around. Being nice always wins sympathy.

I don't understand why you lost your unlimited data plan just upgrading to the iPhone 4. I too have been with AT&T since the original iPhone. When I upgraded from the iPhone 3G to the iPhone 4 I kept my unlimited data plan. In fact I still have the unlimited data plan. It's my understanding that you have to request one of the other plans to lose you unlimited plan.

I am trying to change my iTunes email address. Currently my iTunes id is my Gmail address and I'm trying to change it to my mobileme email address but when I try and change it the error says that I can not change to an existing mobileme address. Any idea what I need to do?

Thanks

I tried to do that once. You cannot use me.com apparently as strange as that
seems. I had a heck of a time getting them to fix it.

I was curious so I downloaded the text free with voice. It's nice because there
are some countries you can text for free. BUT does this mean I need to get my
friends in those countries to download text free also? Because otherwise they
still have to pay to send a text to me, right?
Susan

Anne...I use textfree and gmail...i do believe wth the new textfree u CAN send
